We went into it knowing this tournament was going to be a hard one! There were new rules to the game the boys haven’t played before and barely had time to practice. From leading off and balks to drop third strikes! Not only did these boys have to adjust to the rules, they had to play in cold, rainy weather! Not the typical baseball weather that we all love!
Due to the weather, the boys played one pool play game Saturday and then the other Sunday morning. Saturday’s game was a challenge especially since we played a Pittsburgh team that was used to the rules. The boys battled but came up short losing by 2. Sunday morning’s game was an upset as well, losing by 2. At this point, we just wanted the boys to win at least one game so we weren’t coming home 0-3. After yesterday's loss, everyone went back to the hotel because there was a long break before the single elimination games started. Due to the break, we didn't know what to expect from the boys when we returned to the ball field. All we knew was it could be a long, cold night spent at the baseball field! Before the single elimination games started, the coaches gave the boys a pep talk reminding them of what kind of team they are! These boys are an united team that when they are playing THEIR game, they are unstoppable! As soon as the game started, you knew they were hungry for the win! From top to bottom of the batting order, they were all hitting BOMBS! No team had a chance against their bats! The boys fought their way through two back to back games before the championship game. Final scores of those games were 11-1 and 11-2. Now onto the Championship game at 830pm and we are playing the Pittsburgh team! The first time we played them, our boys didn’t show up and play like they normally do. This time, they were ready! That team had no chance against our boys! The bats continued to stay hot but that wasn’t all. They made amazing plays on the field! The outfield was knocking everything down, infield was making routine and hard outs such as hard line drive catches BUT the game wouldn’t be complete without amazing pitching from the mound and catching behind the plate! The game ended with a beautiful diving catch at 1st base! Final score 16-8. No matter what, never count these boys out and they proved it this past weekend that’s for sure! Whatever it takes, they got it! Written by: Tara Villarreal #ParentsPOV #NatsNation As Alexander Graham Bell said, "when on door closes another one opens..."
Tonight, our 10U team had their last turf practice at our old facility on Taylor Blvd. In the next day or two, we will have everything officially out of the facility. After an extensive search, the Board voted to approve a lease at 151 Allendale Rd, in Mechanicsburg. We will be working hard this summer to build out the roughly 31,000 sq ft to meet our needs. That includes building pitching tunnels, batting cages and installing brand new turf for a full infield and many more upgrades. We hope to open our doors and show off our new facility this Fall. It is an exciting time to be a part of the KNSB organization as many great things are happening for us. But for tonight, we watched as our 10U team ushered in the end of practices at 1 Taylor Blvd “ Last night the boys were able to play their championship game under the lights that got rained out from our Mother’s Day tournament. This would be the last time we would be facing the Edge team for the 9U season so before the game started both coaches said win or lose just have fun! I can’t speak for the Edge boys but I know our Nats boys had fun! These games have become a real nail biter, not knowing who is going to come out on top! I’m so happy to say this time it was Keystone Nationals! These boys have become so close on and off the field and really showed it last night! They made sure to pick each other up when down and cheer on one another throughout the entire game! There is no I in TEAM and they really showed it!They are a bunch of ballers, that’s for sure! Every boy really contributed to this win and should be proud of themselves! Special shout out to our #15 Nick and #11 Easton! Nick gave it all he had on the pitching mound, only letting up 4 runs and Easton smashed the ball to the outfield to end the game early in the bottom of the 4th due to the mercy rule! Final score 14-4 🥇” Submitted by: Tara Villarreal #NatsNation The battle of Edge vs Nationals in the championship game continues! Our boys went into the bottom of the 6th inning with a lead by 1 run. Our hopes of 3 up, 3 down and winning came to a halt when Edge was able to come back and pull out the championship win! Even though our boys didn’t come home with first place, we are so proud of them! The last five tournaments these boys have continued to fight their way into the championship game and 4 out of 5 of those games were against Edge. I think for Mother’s Day, these boys need to pull out first place! Keep up the great work and stacking up the hardware!🥇🏆⚾️🥰”
Thank you, Tara Villarreal, for the parents POV. Continue working hard and congratulations, 9U White. |
